Beech St. Review is currently accepting submissions on a rolling basis. There is no theme; we are simply looking for work that thrills us.
Send 3-5 previously unpublished* poems in an attached document to email@example.com. Please write “POETRY SUBMISSION: [#] poems” in the subject line. Place all poems in a single Word document (.doc or .docx) & send as an attachment. Do not put your name, or any identifying information in the attachment itself. Title your document “poetrysubmission-beechstreet-[monthyear].doc(x)”.
*if you’re not sure whether we consider something previously published or not, feel free to query us.
Simultaneous submissions are welcome but please let us know as soon as possible if your work is picked up elsewhere.
We will make every effort to respond within 4-6 weeks; please wait at least two months before inquiring about the status of your submission. We request that if your work is declined, you wait at least three months before submitting again. Contributors are asked to wait at least one year from the issue you appeared in before submitting more work.
Cover letters are not necessary; if you choose to include one, rather than telling us where you’ve been published or what accolades you’ve received, let us know why you believe poetry is important. Additionally, we would prefer that you not send a bio with your submission. If we choose to publish your work, we will request a brief bio & author photo with your acceptance letter.
Beech St. Review is committed to being responsible literary citizens. As such, we strongly encourage individuals from marginalized communities to send us work. Additionally, we have a zero-tolerance policy for work that supports racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, or any other form of oppression. Submissions that contain this type of work will be rejected outright, and those submitting this type of work will be blocked from our inboxes.
If your work is accepted, you agree to grant us First North American Serial Rights, plus archival rights in perpetuity. Upon publication all rights revert back to the author. You agree that if your poem/s subsequently appears elsewhere (in print or online), you will give due credit to Beech St. Review
